Family/Double Cabin
Chorister Cottage
Chorister Cottage is a fitting little abode for this neck of the woods, and by woods, we really mean it. Perched on a hillside in the off-the-beaten-track area of Ruigtevlei, just outside of Sedgefield in the Western Cape.
Tucked away in a peaceful natural setting, this is a place where birdlife thrives in abundance. From sunrise to sunset, the air is alive with the melodies of countless species calling through the trees and across open skies. Whether you’re sipping your morning coffee or taking an afternoon stroll, you’re surrounded by the soothing chorus of nature — a gentle reminder of how vibrant and alive the world can be. It’s a true haven for bird lovers and anyone seeking to reconnect with the simple, beautiful rhythm of the wild.
This cottage features 2 bedrooms that can sleep up to 6 guests, a spacious bathroom with a shower, and a large open-plan living room and kitchen. It also has a semi-wraparound deck with stunning views and space outside to sit, relax, or braai.

What to expect
Chorister Cottage is completely off-grid and solar powered. The cabin is perfectly equipped with everything you'd need for a proper dose of downtime. It has oodles of space and a great big wooden patio where you can put your feet up and enjoy the views. You might even hear the Chorister Robin - the little bird after which the cottage was named.
It has 2 bedrooms - a double room and a twin room with an additional double sleeper couch, making it perfect for a family or a group sharing. There is a shared bathroom with a shower and a beautiful outdoor bath where you can take an evening soak while gazing at the stars.
The living room, dining room, and kitchen areas are open-plan. Large comfortable couches are scattered around the living room, with a cozy little bar counter as well. The dining area has a large table, and the kitchen is well equipped with a gas stove, oven, and fridge/freezer. You can head onto the wooden patio via doors leading out from the living area and kitchen.
Apart from enjoying the general peaceful vibe and tranquility of the cottage, there are plenty of nature walks and mountain bike trails in the nearby surroundings. Further afield, you'll find Goukamma and Gericke's Point beaches, hiking trails around Groenvlei, bird hides at Rondevlei, and the famous Wild Oats farmers market in Sedgefield. Easy access to the river is available for picnics, braai's, or a swim.
Guests have access to the entire cottage, the field, and the river for communal use—no entry to the outbuildings and workshop.
Your hosts also stay at the bottom of the property and can provide additional info on nearby activities.
Regrettably, there are no fences around the property, and wildlife roam free; therefore, no pets are allowed.
